Welcome to Potomac, MD

Named after the river, Potomac is 14 miles northwest from downtown Washington. While minutes away from the city, Potomac is an exclusively residential community comprising some of the largest residences in the metropolitan area on expansive multi-acre lots. Residents can enjoy the outdoors by hiking the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls or catching a canal boat ride at the Great Falls Canal.  While Potomac was settled in the early 1700s, there are exceedingly few properties earlier than the 20th century still extant. While there have been more distinguished condominium developments created in the last several years, Potomac is made up most significantly of single-family houses.
